Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation announces charitable grants

Dec. 28, 2017 — The Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation recently announced several year-end grants in three communities where our employees live and work. Locations receiving grants from the Foundation include, Salina, Kansas; Marshall, Minnesota; and Stilwell, Oklahoma.

Charitable grants to the Salina community

Year-end grants to charitable organizations in Salina totaled $50,000. These grants are in addition to other community investments made by the Foundation and Schwan’s Company in the Salina area this past year.

Those receiving grants include:
Our company has operated a pizza-production facility in Salina since 1970 (making pizzas under our Tony’s®, Red Baron® and Schwan’s® brands). We also operate a Schwan’s Home Service, Inc. depot.

Earlier this fall, the Foundation granted $9,500 to Salina Park & Rec to support scholarships for children otherwise unable to afford Salina Park & Rec programming. And in February, our company announced a 15-year, $1.2 million contract supporting the Tony’s™ Pizza Event Center.

Charitable grants to the Stilwell community

Year-end grants to charitable organizations in the Stilwell community totaled $21,000. These grants are in addition to other community investments made by our company in the Stilwell area this past year.

Those receiving grants include:
Our subsidiaries have operated a dessert-production facility in Stilwell since 2003. The facility produces pies under the Mrs. Smith’s® and Edwards® brands.

Earlier this year, the company facility received the “Employer of the Quarter” award from the Stilwell Chamber of Commerce. In October, our company announced a $40 million investment in a new state-of-the-art crème pie line that has resulted in about 45 new jobs.

Charitable grants to the Marshall community

Year-end grants to charitable organizations in the Marshall area totaled more than $145,000. These grants are in addition to other community investments made by our company in Marshall this past year.

Those receiving new grants include:
Earlier this year, the Foundation granted $100,000 to Avera Cancer Institute Marshall, completing its pledge of $600,000 to fund the new center.
