Jan. 23, 2019 — One of our company’s primary philanthropic areas of interest is hunger. In an effort to help those experiencing food insecurities, our team in Marshall, Minnesota, recently completed a one-day food drive supporting the local Kitchen Table Food Shelf. Employees donated a total of 365 pounds of food as well as $692.64. The total donations are equivalent to approximately 3,050 meals.

The event was coordinated by the Marshall Schwan’s Engagement Council (SEC). SEC is an employee-led committee dedicated to increasing engagement and celebrating successes as one Schwan’s team. The group is committed to educating employees about the company’s business, supporting community through volunteer efforts, driving collaboration across business units through activities and encouraging employees to make a personal commitment to health and safety.

The local food shelf is a part of the Feeding America Network. Our company entered into an official partnership with Feeding America in 2011 where it was designated as the company’s charity of choice. Doing so, Schwan’s Company is not only able to centrally focus charitable works and ensure consistency throughout the company, but also provide a way for employees to positively engage toward a common cause for their communities.
