Interns cap summer with final activity

Our 2016 interns volunteered packing potatoes
at Second Harvest Heartland.
Aug. 30, 2016 — With summer coming to a close and college classes starting again, it’s time for us to say goodbye
to part of our team — the summer intern class of 2016. Celebrating their achievements and wishing them the best of luck in their future endeavors, we recently coordinated a day-long final group activity for all our interns before they go on to their next adventures.

Melissa Vit, who is the manager of college relations and strategic initiatives, helped coordinate the day’s activities for the interns. Their day started by volunteering at Second Harvest Heartland. There, the interns measured and bundled 4,100 pounds of potatoes.

Following the volunteer activity, interns attended a networking luncheon with our leadership team. Director of Culinary Michael Gunn and Chef Deb Hey prepared the lunch using foods from Schwan’s Home Service.

The last activity for the day was a recruiter panel, where our recruiters discussed ways that interns can best position and support themselves as they focus on the next steps after graduation. Interns had the opportunity to ask questions and hear from recruiters first-hand how they lead the candidate process.

This year’s intern class was made up of 30 students from different colleges and universities across the country. Each company business unit had interns who helped with project work during the 12 to 15-week summer internship.

The 2016 intern class included: Robert Danaher, Ryan Whittle, Sean Ingebretson, Anton Proksch, Matthew Hepp, Paige Mooty, Jackie Martinez, Anthony Amaru, Courtney Johnston, Chris Hatton, Stacy White, Thomas McHugh, Trisha Nghiem, Nathan Ray, Tanner Hubbard, Thomas Geesman, Kelsea Henderson, Brenna Dircks, Tyler Damian, Weiyong Zhang, Meghan Klatt, Aleksandra Stein, Abby Uhrich, Zachary Wierzba, Emerson Miller, Chris Eckerman, Carlos Batrez, Katie Wenisch, Lucas McKown and Adison Samater.

Thank you interns, we appreciate all your hard work this summer! Best of luck in all future endeavors.
