Progressive Grocer names Freschetta® Artisan Crust pizza as an ‘Editor’s Pick’


Sept. 13, 2016 — We are thrilled to announce our Freschetta® Artisan Crust pizza from Schwan’s Consumer Brands was recently named an “Editor’s Pick,” by Progressive Grocer magazine. The industry magazine’s September issue featured the 51 percent multigrain crust pizza, listing it among 2016’s top new products.

“From above and below, this offering from Freschetta® (pizza) should win many new fans looking for something different in their grocer’s frozen pizza case,” the Progressive Grocer magazine said in the article.

Calling out specifically the Freschetta® Artisan Crust Chicken and Fire Roasted Vegetable variety, the article stated that the new variety is a nice change of pace from the standard pizza varieties offered.

To be selected as an “Editor’s Pick,” Freschetta® pizza was compared to more than 245 food products submitted to the publication. Of those, 76 were selected as an “Editor’s Pick.” During the selection process, the publication’s editorial team evaluates each product based on key areas including:

  • Taste.
  • Innovation.
  • Function.
  • Convenience.

Additionally, products were evaluated based on if it was on trend, filled a marketplace void, price and anticipated demand from the market.

Launching earlier this year, Freschetta® Artisan Crust pizzas are offered in four varieties, including Four Cheese, Pepperoni, Margherita and Chicken and Fire Roasted Vegetable. All feature a 51 percent multigrain crust made with a unique blend of three delicious whole grains — whole wheat, brown rice and oat flour — kneaded into the dough for a slightly sweet, hearty texture and 21 grams of whole-grain goodness per serving.
