March 29, 2017 — Our employees in Marshall, Minnesota, and the Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation were recently honored with the “Spirit of Caring Award” by United Way of Southwest Minnesota. The award is given to organizations that have a track record of continued participation and strong support of United Way of Southwest Minnesota.

Mort Meyenburg, who was a co-chair person of our 2016 United Way campaign in Marshall, accepted the award on behalf of employees and the foundation.

Community involvement and giving back to those who support our company has always been a priority for our organization.

In 2016, our team in Marshall and the Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation donated approximately $164,000 to United Way of Southwest Minnesota. The donations go toward benefiting local-charitable organizations that support people and resources focused on improving education, income (financial stability), health, safety and well-being and hunger in Southwest Minnesota.

Our employees' efforts with the United Way have been recognized in the past. In 2015, Bethany Janachovsky received the campaign ambassador award for her work as chairperson of the company’s 2014 United Way Campaign in Marshall. And, in 2015, Michelle Warme had received the volunteer of the year award for her multiple efforts in the community. Theresa Zaske received the volunteer of the year award in 2014.

Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization focused on efforts to end hunger, promote youth education and leadership development and provide essential services that advance the health of the communities where our employees live and work. The foundation is headquartered in Marshall.
