Feb. 15, 2018 — Today, as a founding partner of the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee, Schwan’s Home Service, Inc. worked to improve the quality of life for food-insecure people in Minnesota with a $25,000 donation to Second Harvest Heartland. The donation equates to 75,000 meals for local families in need.

Schwan's teamed up with professional football tight ends Jason Witten and Kyle Rudolph to spread the news of the fundraising effort for Second Harvest Heartland, a Minneapolis-St. Paul based food bank. During the campaign, Schwan’s donated $5 for every order submitted by a new customer, up to $25,000.

“As a food company, we at Schwan’s understand the importance of supporting food-insecure communities and promoting family mealtime,” said Pat Anderson, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Schwan’s. “The run up to the big game here in Minnesota presented us with a great opportunity to show our commitment to partnering with organizations that demonstrate exceptional efforts to fight hunger and provide essential services to advance healthier communities.”

“We are so appreciative for the generosity of Schwan’s not only for this check but for all of their support during the Super Bowl and throughout the year,” said Rob Zeaske, chief executive officer of Second Harvest Heartland. “This check for $25,000 will provide more than 75,000 meals to hungry neighbors. Helping people thrive at work, in the classroom and in their communities is what drives Second Harvest Heartland, its partners and supporters.”

Second Harvest Heartland is one of the largest, most efficient and most innovative hunger relief organizations in the nation. In close partnership with nearly 1,000 food shelves, food pantries and other meal programs, Second Harvest Heartland helps the one in 10 people in Minnesota and western Wisconsin who face hunger every day. In 2017, Second Harvest Heartland helped provide a record 81 million meals to more than half million people.
